1. Who we are
Foliumly.com | Finance tools built for US freelancers and self-employed workers("we", "us") is a small independent publisher of finance calculators and educational content for US freelancers, 1099 workers, and self-employed individuals. You can reach us at the address on our contact page.
2. What information we collect
2.1 Information you give to the calculators
Every input you type into a calculator on this site — your target income, state, filing status, expenses, and saved scenario names — stays on your device. The math runs in your browser. We do not send these values to a server, we do not store them on a server, and we cannot see them.
Saved scenarios are stored in your browser's localStorage under the key freelance-rate-scenarios:v1. They remain there until you delete a scenario, clear your browser data, or use a different device. Switching browsers or devices means starting fresh.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
When you visit a page, our hosting provider receives standard request information: your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and the URL you visited. We use a privacy-respecting analytics service (Vercel Analytics) that aggregates this into anonymous traffic counts. We do not set tracking cookies for analytics, do not track you across other sites, and do not build a profile of your activity.
2.3 Information you give us directly
If you email us, we keep that email so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list and we do not share your email with anyone.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use the following storage on your device:
- localStorage for saved calculator scenarios. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted with requests. You can clear it any time from your browser settings.
- Strictly necessary cookies set by our hosting provider for load balancing and abuse prevention. These do not identify you.
We do not use marketing or cross-site tracking cookies. If we introduce advertising (see Section 5), we will update this section and present a consent prompt where required by law.
4. How we use information
We use the limited information we collect only to (a) operate the site, (b) understand which pages are useful so we can build better ones, (c) detect and prevent abuse, and (d) reply when you contact us. We do not sell or rent personal information.
5. Advertising
We may add Google AdSense advertising in the future. If and when we do, this section will explain how Google uses cookies and device identifiers to serve ads, link to Google's policies, and provide a clear way to opt out where required (including the EU/UK consent prompt and the Global Privacy Control / "Do Not Sell or Share" signal).
Until that integration goes live, no third-party ad networks are running on this site.
6. How long we keep information
Aggregated traffic analytics are retained for up to 12 months and then discarded. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to provide a useful reply, then archived or deleted. Calculator scenarios live only on your device until you delete them.
7. Your privacy rights
7.1 California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, to correct inaccurate information, to delete information we hold, to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to be free of retaliation for exercising these rights. 7.2 European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, our legal basis for processing the limited data described above is our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the site. You have the right to access, rectify, or erase data we hold about you, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Cross-border transfers, where they occur, rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
7.3 Pakistan (PDPA)
For users in Pakistan, you have rights under Pakistan's Personal Data Protection Act framework — including the right to access, the right to correct, the right to withdraw consent, and the right to be informed of any breach affecting your data. 7.4 Other jurisdictions
Wherever you are, you have the right to ask what we hold about you and to ask us to correct or delete it. We respond to all good-faith requests within 30 days.
8. Children
This site is intended for adults filing US tax returns. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Because we don't collect calculator inputs or build accounts, the attack surface is small. Pages are served over HTTPS only. We cannot guarantee perfect security, but we keep our hosting provider, dependencies, and SSL configuration current.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change — particularly if we add advertising, analytics tools, or any third-party integration. The effective date at the top of the page reflects the most recent update. For material changes we will surface a notice at the top of affected pages.
